Web 2.0
What is Web 2.0?
Web 2.0 is a website designed to provide teachers with free access to websites that can assist teachers in integrating technology into the classroom.
What are Web 2.0 tools?
Web 2.0 provides teachers with links to podcasting, audioediting, blog and wiki resources. Other Web 2.0 tools allow teachers to create avatars, diagrams and charts for webpages, Google documents and spreadsheets, project webpages, shareable to-do lists, and online collaborative "workspaces."
How can teachers use Web 2.0 tools to support learning?
Through the use of technology, especially Web 2.0 tools, teachers can accomodate their lesson plans to the various learning styles of their students. By creating podcasts, for example, teachers can meet the needs of their auditory learners. Web 2.0 also allows teachers to create project webpages, which encourage students to actively participate in their lessons.
What websites are particularly useful in helping teachers use Web 2.0 tools?
Web 2.0 provides links to numerous websites to help teachers maximize their use of Web 2.0 tools. These links include:
www.go2web20.net
Go2Web20.net is an extensive website of Web 2.0 tools, including educational, online games.
www.yacapaca.com
Yacapaca.com allows teachers to create online quizzes, tests and surveys, as well as online homework pages.
www.engrade.com
Engrade provides teachers with a free, online grade book and classroom community.

Web 2.0 Project
For this project, I chose to utilize Engrade.com, a Web 2.0 tool that provides teachers with a free, online gradebook that can be made accessible to teachers, students and parents. Using this website, students and their parents can check grades, reply to teachers, and check the class calendar for assignment due dates and instructions.
I set up a sample classroom community using Engrade. To access this example, go to www.engrade.com/home-students.php and enter UWG as the username and password (using all caps). Once you are logged in, click on "Geography- 1st Period" under "My Classes." From this point, students could then check their current grades, make sure they have completed and handed in all assignments, check their attendance records, and send messages to their teacher. Engrade is thus a convenient tool for holding students accountable for their work and their grades.
